Pickpick

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I loved everything about this book! It is not often a book totally surprises me with its ending but I did not see the end of this one coming. I love the tortured and secretive characters, the dark and bloody world, and the frank way the story is told.

This is the first Leigh Bardugo book and I devoured it. I will definitely be reading more.

I read a lot of mixed reviews about this book but I am halfway through and loving it!! Clearly I need to catch up on my Bardugo.

The chemistry between Gus and January started out strong and they had a lot of potential. The banter between the two was adorable in the beginning and I devoured it. I feel like the relationship fizzled out about halfway through and the character's insecurities overwhelmed the cuteness and chemistry.

This book isn't bad and it is worth reading if you are looking for an angsty romance.

⭐⭐⭐

I really enjoyed the friendship and dynamic between Keely and Andrew. There were very cute and adorably awkward moments that I live for.

I think Kelly came off a bit dense in the later chapters about Drew's feelings for her. This began to feel a little too unrealistic in the later chapters. I think a lot of the friend's drama was unnecessary and bogged the story down.

Overall, this is a cute story and I enjoyed the two MC's interactions.

⭐⭐⭐

This book is an enjoyable read if you are in the mood for a slightly cheesy and somewhat predictable YA sci-fi romance.

I did find the revelation of the rock group as aliens to be very surprising. I figured this out about halfway through the story. Morris' brother turning out to be a good guy, I felt, was too easy and made the final battle lose momentum.

⭐⭐

The last 100 pages are what I wish the preceding 299 had been. The beginning is very slow and thumps and eerie music are hardly thrilling enough for what is marketed as a ghost story. It was a struggle to finish this book and I only did so because I hate not doing so. This novel definitely did not live up to the hype. I was very disappointed.
