As expected, best of the bunch so far. I wonder what it would have been like to read if I didn't already know all about Sirius Black et al heading in...

Obvious rankings are obvious:

1. Prisoner of Azkaban
2. Chamber of Secrets
3. Philosopher's Stone

Now for Goblet of Fire which, if I remember the films, is a little bit of a dip before Order of the Phoenix picks up again.

Blitzing through these now. 😉 (Though of course they increase dramatically in length from here)

I've decided I'm going to rank them as I go. I liked this more than the first, so at the moment it stands thusly...

1. Chamber of Secrets
2. Philosopher's Stone

Onwards to Azkaban!

One down, six to go. 😉
(Ended up buying the Ravenclaw edition because, once in front of me, I could not resist the blueness...)

ChicaReads I must have these ! 💙💛 7y

(Yay audiobooks 😏) Decent one this, much more an espionage thriller than the murder mystery it initially suggests. Felt it dropped off in the final third when the claustrophobic political intrigue gave way to more just 'action'. Weird to say that my favourite character was the SS guy (Huth) - loved his caustic humour. Although this book felt a mixed bag, at least I'm now motivated to seek out Deighton's more famous titles (e.g. The Ipcress File).

There is a lot of Weird Shit in this book...even by PKD's standard! I did like it, though. It felt like a complete story whereas, e.g., The Man In The High Castle, was all very loosely and unsatisifyingly connected (albeit in a fascinating world). Most other PKD books I've read have strangely flat, anti-climactic endings...but this did pretty much the opposite by literally the last two pages pulling out a "LOL, SWERVE!". I had to laugh out loud.

Good to find not only a book that I like, but is the first of a series should I wish to read more...! Will review once I've finished.
