Home Before Dark by Riley Sager, Todd Ritter

During this book, I definitely found myself understanding climate change in a much deeper way. The recent environmental events impacting the world around us make this book's topic more relevant than ever. Reading this with those events fresh in my mind just reinforced that it is up to all of us to push for change and justice. It is the only way we can hope to lessen the impact of climate change and right the wrongs of society thus far.

Duke, Actually | Jenny Holiday

Duke, Actually is the adorable sequel to A Princess for Christmas. Dani's attitude towards love sets up the perfect friendship for her and Max. The two just want to enjoy their time together escape from their lives for a while. The two continue to get to know each other and bond, they find themselves falling for each other. For me, this book was the equivalent of drinking hot cocoa. It made me feel warm and fuzzy.

The Between | Ryan Leslie

The Between is a story of a nightmarish video game come to life. I have to say, I really enjoyed this book. I'm a fan of the sort of “classic“ horror vibes that ran as an undercurrent throughout the plot. One of my other favorite things about this book was the character, Supriya, a bad*ss cancer survivor with a prosthesis. My only complaint was a few plot holes. I found it difficult to contextualize and understand a few of the flashbacks.

Paradise, WV | Rob Rufus

For the most part, I really really enjoyed this book. I enjoy Rob Rufus's writing style and his commitment to creating an engrossing world. If you're in the mood for a thriller or police procedural-esque novel that also raises awareness for the harm that drugs can have on a community, if you're into cults, or if you're really passionate about Appalachia in the media (like my fiancé is), then this may be the book for you.

The Husbands | Chandler Baker
Mehso-so

If you have a fascination with Stepford Wives, then let me introduce you to their counterpart... Stepford Husbands.
I did enjoy this book a lot. Certain parts just dragged on, and it wasn't until about 60% of the way through that it seemed that anything major happened.

Pickpick

This weekend, I decided to break out my copy of Taylor Jenkins Reid's The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and give it a read. After seeing it flood my TikTok, Twitter, and Instagram feeds, I knew it was time.
1. The passion.
2. Evelyn Hugo's character.
3. The way Reid writes grief.
4. Monique's character growth (and her relationship with her mom).
5. The bisexual representation.
6. The plot twists.
7. The writing itself.

Overall Rating: 5/5
