Anna, Like Thunder | Peggy Herring
Pickpick

I really enjoyed this book, though the more I discuss it with others the more I have to criticise about it. I still think it's a big step forward for settler writing about colonialism, and I appreciate the author's thoughts on her process in the postscript. Compelling, a page turner. Couldn't stand the husband but what else is new.

Bellevue Square | Michael Redhill
Mehso-so

Consuming and confusing! Redhill does a great job of making the reader feel as off kilter and unsure about the nature of reality as his protagonist. I loved a lot of it. Sometimes I felt like skimming through overly dense passages to find out what happens... The end left me searching the internet for other reviews to try to understand what I might have missed. I'm also not totally convinced of his writing from a female perspective.

The Neverending Story | Michael Ende, Ralph Manheim
Pickpick

Lovely and imaginative story. It almost lost me about halfway through but slowly I fell back in love with it. The end had me in happy tears.
