chelseadende I chose this quote because it is one of my favourites from the novel. I've never heard of anyone comparing themselves to a cactus, so when I read it, it made me respect Jeannette's writing prowess even more. I like how descriptive she is in the book. It put into perspective just how difficult her life has been and how fortunate I am to have the things I do. 6mo
