Chris Cleave has a knack for weaving together a multitude of partially-developed characters who seamlessly merge to create a whole picture of the fracturing war imposes on the lives it touches. His pacing places the reader in the emotional uncertainty and upheaval of that reality, and his prose brings to life vivid imagery of each setting. I highly recommend.
