The Square Root of Summer | Harriet Reuter Hapgood

Pickpick

In honor of the Summer Solstice, I'd like to share one of my favorite summer reads. The Square Root of Summer follows Gottie Oppenheimer, a 17-year-old physics protégée, as she tries to come to terms with growing up and grieving her late grandfather. Oh...and crazy things like black holes appear every now and again to make things more interesting. Gottie spends much of the book in her backyard, so I often found myself doing the same while reading.

Six of Crows | Leigh Bardugo

Pickpick

When you can't wait to get your hands on the sequel, you know a book is good. I am not so patiently waiting for my hold on Crooked Kingdom to be fulfilled and reveling in the brilliance of Six of Crows. The characters are so real and I was so intrigued by the excellent diversity of the cast. I loved how Bardugo makes Kaz more relatable to herself by giving him his cane. The plot was tight, yet always twisting...I never knew what to expect.
