“Every February my classmates and I were herded into assemblies for a ritual review of the Civil Rights Movement. Our teachers urged us toward the example of freedom marchers, Freedom Riders, and Freedom Summers, and it seemed that the month could not pass without a series of films dedicated to the glories of being beaten on camera.”

Great companion graphic novel to the original novel, or even as a stand alone. The artwork is beautiful; it draws you into Robert Jordan‘s carefully crafted world.

I‘ve read and thoroughly enjoyed Robert Jordan‘s The Eye of the World and wondered how the graphic novel would compare. The story stays true to the original but I wonder if I‘d understand the way it jumps in and out of dreams/stories/memories if I hadn‘t read the book. I still enjoyed it and love seeing how the illustrator depicts the characters and scenes. Each volume is a quick read. I‘ve already started Volume 2.

I kind of love that I finished reading A Dance with Dragons while in the air. The characters have become so much more complex. The protagonists have many dimensions and while you love to root for them, some of their decisions make you uncomfortable. The “villains” are just as interesting, sometimes more, and at times you find yourself kinda rooting for them too! I‘m thrilled there are two more installments coming out.. not soon enough!
