HST was first & foremost an astute journalist with a mind for politics &chicanery. Add to that a generous amt of illegal substances, & a presidential campaign that puts the Good Dr at odds with Nixon at the height of his paranoia & power, and you've got the best book on America politics ever written

I read this book back in high school, & a couple times since then to refresh my memory as I read further into the series. A fun and fantastic read into an alternate US history, where the release of an alien virus has caused crazy weird mutations in many humans. Great start to an imaginative series!

An excellent updating of the much-loved classic. I usually hate-read these types of books, but this was delightful. All the characters and plots remained true to the original, yet with a 21st century mindset. I read this in 4 hrs straight, couldn't put it down even though I already know how it ends!
