To Kill a Mockingbird is narrated by a girl who‘s name is Jean Finch. She usually goes by her nickname, Scout. She goes on to talk about her family history. Scout lives with her older brother Jem and Atticus who is a lawyer. In the summer of 1933 when Jem is almost 10 and Scout is almost 6, a new neighbour moves in beside them. His name is Charles Harris but goes by Dill. He quickly becomes friends with Jem and Scout.

Nathan.LeRoy Dill says that they should go try and get Boo Radley out of his house. Radley is a creepy neighbour who has never been seen out of his house in years. If you like classic fiction you will enjoy this book. This book is written in first person where Scout is both the protagonist and narrator. The author uses pronouns such as, I, me, we and us. 2y

1984 | George Orwell

Pickpick

A man named Winston Smith returns to his rundown apartment building called Victory Mansions. Winston is a member of the Party, a totalitarian political regime that rules all of Airstrip One which is the land that used to be England. Winston and others are under oppressive political control. There are telescreens that are constantly sharing propaganda from the government.

Nathan.LeRoy The thought police are known to monitor the actions of citizens through these telescreens. Winston begins to write in a journal and he is realizing that he is starting to rebel against the Party. The themes of 1984 are totalitarianism, communism, individual vs collective identity and class struggle. If you like dystopian fiction, social science fiction or political fiction you will enjoy this book. 2y
Nathan.LeRoy I would rate this book a 4 out of 5 starts because it is a bit hard to follow and understand what is going on in the book at the start. 2y
