The high fantasy equivalent of an action movie, this book is full of flash, shiny lines, thin relationships, and non-stop action. It suffered from lack of character depth and thin worldbuilding, but with some work the series could yield better books.

Charming and witty, Sorcerer to the Crown offers a wonderfully diverse cast and an adventure rife with politics, magic, ladies getting work done, and a little bit of romance. Recommend for those who loved Howl's Moving Castle.

Radiance is a love note written to cinema and the stars. The non-traditional narration made it difficult for me to fall into the story during the first part, but Valente's gorgeous writing and immensely imaginative solar system are inescapable.
