Violated. That's how I feel. I could understand the shift from first person to third for Akos and Cyra in book one. But this? No. Do not hook me in a story and then slam first person present fucking tense in my face. That's lazy. If you, as a writer, can't manage to write distinct points of view, write in 3rd person and be done with it. 😡

Pickpick

I know a lot of people said a lot of bad things about this book, but I loved it. It's basically a romance though, I thought I was buying fantasy... But yeah, this is a space romance. I finished last night and I'm still not sure I know what the plot is, but I don't even care. Went out and got book 2 today. Fun and easy to read.

I bought this book expecting a story about wiccan-style witches (the blessing symbol on the front cover and first chapter gave me this impression) and was disappointed to find it was more necromancy and spirits of the dead oriented. I had trouble connecting to the main character and was not wowed at any point. Plot was fairly predictable.

That said, the setting is cool and the writing is easy to read.

I have never read a book quite like this one. It fulfilled all the promises written on the back, especially "carries the true savagery and chill of antiquity."

I loved the ending too, it was perfect in every way.
