Been a while since I've used this! I've read a lot over the past few months - this is what my library hold list decided I was going to read next.

Beautiful and heartbreaking and one of the best things I've read all year.

I've been reading a lot of short stories this past week, time for something a bit more substantial

I've had this on hold at the library for weeks, and it's finally mine to read!

SmallPooka Oh I really want to read this. Love the cover. 6y

Beautiful. The simple and very human stories of five very ordinary lives, in all its caring, stubborn, loving, clever and reckless glory. I cannot recommend this series enough.

Maybe my favourite new series from recent years - such a warm, comforting read set in a hugely detailed world - and I've been looking forward to this one for months.

Possibly the best one yet - Murderbot is such a delight and I care far too much about this precious robot.

Ann Leckie got it spot on - Murderbot has been one of my favorite discoveries this year and I hope my favorite robot is going to be okay.

Not as sharp or bitter as the first book, and missing the flair of its setting, however it still tells an achingly painful story while throwing enough new twists to the story to keep me racing to the end.

I rarely read any poetry, so I feel like a lot of this collection was wasted on me but when a poem grabbed my attention it really stuck with me. I can't say I'll definitely read more by the poet in the future, but I won't avoid it either.

I'm trying to read more widely this year, and here's something I've almost never read - a poetry collection, and by a Kiwi author too!

The comics are still not as great as the books - it's missing a lot of the character flavour - but this most recent volume focused more on the supporting characters which I do appreciate. Pity the art is nothing to write about - it does the job, and not much else.

An incredible farewell to Jamie Delano and one hell of an introduction to Garth Ennis, and packed with beautiful art on every page. Easily the best volume of Hellblazer so far.

A quick, tense read where determined characters circle a mystery they're determined to solve.

And look at that cover!

I'm already halfway through this novella-the first two were fantastic, set in a wonderful new world filled with brilliantly-realised characters-and I can't wait to finish it as soon as I get home.

The character work was superb, with everyone given their chance to shine and make things worse. There are a lot of little details throughout-how characters swear, how they dress, what concerns then the most-that add a lot of flavour to the setting without being obtrusive. My only sticking point was that all the spy craft happens off-screen, but we certainly still see the impact it has.

Slowly making my way through Hellblazer and finally reached one of the big ones.

Cptn_Dr Oh man, this one's an all time classic. 6y

A delightful tale of faerie magic and three girls fighting to protect what's theirs. It took longer to get through than the author's previous book, and I think I prefer it too, but I can still heatedly recommend this one.

A fun and creepy story that ends on a great cliffhanger but the art, while stunning, is uncomfortably pornographic for a story about a sixteen year old high school student.

Uprooted was one of the best books I've read all year and everything I hope to write about myself. I was so eager to read Naomi Novik's next book that I pre-ordered it without even reading the blurb!
