A harmless bit of fluff from the ever-lovely Susan Mallery. Perfectly likeable characters, low threat & a few laugh out loud moments for one of her most unique & compelling characters yet. Not especially stimulating but an excellent mini escape for difficult times.

Pickpick

A fabulous fantasy adventure. Filled with sweet and delicate touches, marvellous one-liners and truly likeable characters, this was both everything & nothing like I expected. Fans of the Ghibli film will delight in Jones' originality & Ghibli's numerous deviations that keep every page turn an oddly familiar surprise. Delicious!

Another solid trip down memory lane with a fair few belly laughs and dollops of nostalgia. I've gotta say that it's not his best though. At times he forces through the involvement of the eponymous Thunderbolt Kid and I was surprised at how dated some of his ideas already felt (yes, I know it's about the 50's, but you can tell the book is also a product of its own decade). It's definitely worth a read, but not one I'll return to, unlike his others.
