Fast-paced fantasy book. I loved the story although felt the author could have developed the story more. Magic portals, evil half-brothers, a touch of romance... what more do you need?! I couldn‘t put it down.

This Saskatchewan author does a great job touching on the epidemic of youth suicide in Northern SK. 12-yr-old Chance lives in a community with an emotionally toxic school environment. A Spirit guide in the form of a fox leads Chance through her journey of grief after her 2 best friends commit suicide. A quick read with an important message.

What a great story! Told from the perspective of a 12yr old boy with Autism/OCD, this book is humorous, touching, and entertaining. Who wouldn‘t want to go across the US in an old RV with your three siblings and a mysterious Bosnian stranger?! Loved it. Ages 12+

Loved this book! Heartwarming, funny, well-written. A great book for grade 4 and older, especially for dog lovers. 💕

I listened to this audiobook and enjoyed it. It‘s an interesting way to teach the reader about WW2 with characters in Germany under the Hitler regime, and in the US as orphans and immigrants. Oh yes, and some magic! I was not expecting the musical references made frequently throughout the book and think that these were likely better in the audiobook as they played the songs being discussed. Teens may not have the perseverance required to finish.
