The Ecliptic | Benjamin Wood
Pickpick

I am at a loss as to how to describe or evaluate this compulsive and well-written book-it's a fascinating exploration of the artistic process and what happens when inspiration is lacking and isolation and desperation takes over. I would love to hear what other readers make of this highly original novel. I would definitely recommend it.

Not posted for such a long time but I'm almost done with this wonderfully written book & will be sorry to finish it & return it to the library-I loved The Bellwether Revivals and recommended it to everyone and I will be doing the same with this novel-hope Mr Wood is busy writing another original tale!

The Followers | Rebecca Wait
Mehso-so

Religious cults and charismatic leaders have always fascinated me and the capacity for submission and faith are covered well in this readable book. However some characters are underdeveloped and the story rushes to its end far too quickly for this reader.

Looking forwards to bedtime and my new book!

Far from True | Linwood Barclay
Pickpick

Evil lurks behind the small town facade in this second part of the Promise Falls trilogy and Barclay certainly is the master of ramping up the suspense and shock as a cop and a private detective pursue a particularly nasty killer and try to solve the significance of the number twenty-nine.

Extremely tired at work today due to the page-turning nature of this book-though I have to say that's it's been a while since I read Promise Falls and since this book continues the story there have been moments when I'm unsure what's happened to who! Still a satisfying read!

Pickpick

An enjoyable English house mystery with alluring women and ruthless men and the wise old Miss Silver who ignores the red herrings and solves the murders through listening carefully and observing the suspects. Although dated this satisfied my occasional need for a decent cosy crime.
