Emotionally brutal!!!! This book has the distinction of being the ONLY book that has brought me to tears. I will note that the author has a penchant for run-on sentences and it gets repetitive. But maybe that repetitiveness is what drives home the despair. Pick it up at you own peril!

Sad to say- I ended up abandoning it. I liked "The Round House", but wasn't feeling this one.
