This half of the book is a whirlwind of emotions! The Wells family fell apart, and came back together (sort of) over the span of many years in tragic ways and shows that it is truly very hard to escape your past. This is the part of the book that gave the story behind the first scene of the book as well. This section shows the contrasts between the lives of each family member and highlights who thrived and who fell apart in the end of the story…

EllaMulroy …If you like books that keep you on the edge of your seat filled with suspense and unexpected turns, this is a great read for you! The Glass Castle is written in first person point of view through the eyes of Jeannette Walls. The author establishes this point of view not only through the use of “I, me, we, etc.” but also through the explanation of the events within the book from a essential/main character within the story line! 1y

So far I am loving this book!! I have only read up to page 145 where they are in the midst of there stay in Welch with Rex‘s parents. Things seem a little weird at this point of the book, seeing as his parents are a little whacko. The dynamic Jeanette seems to be forming with Erma (Rex‘s mom) is strange. You would expect a grandmother to be happy seeing her grandkids… but I guess that‘s not the case. Overall i‘m excited to see what comes next!

MissYaremcio Thank you for the review Ella! I was just missing your theme and how it was established, and I would have liked more of a recommendation. 3.5/6 2y
