Time to learn a lot and probably real angry/sad.

"In the fall of 1958, Virginia's governor Lindsay Almond chained the doors of the schools in localities that attempted to comply with the Supreme Court's Brown decision....'I would rather have my children live in ignorance than have them go to school with Negroes," one white patent told a reporter."

It's easy to forget sometimes that this was *just* a generation ago.

Beasts Made of Night | Tochi Onyebuchi

Pickpick

Beasts Made of Night is a Nigerian-influenced fantasy and Onyebuchi‘s debut novel, and it shows great promise (characters, action sequences, sin-eating concept) despite some rough edges (pacing). It is no secret that the fantasy genre has long been Eurocentric, but building on a foundation laid by early diverse voices, it is exciting to see authors like Onyebuchi break this mold, telling stories particular to their background and experiences.
