A brutal and imaginative story with a redemptive ending. Highly recommended for fans of 'Cruddy' by Lynda Barry.

This book offers an opportunity to inhabit the mind of a perpetual loner. The unspoken words in this book are what I find most compelling. The narrator's emotions, which bubble, never to burst, are agonizing. The insights into guilt, loneliness, and sympathy are undeniable and universal.

Cruddy is my favorite novel ever consumed. I have just finished it and find myself paralyzed; trapped still in its bloody, cruddy world. Does anyone have any further recommendations?

tkmadden it's my favorite book ever! if you like this, and want similar, I'd recommend 8y
Baxter.litsy @tkmadden I read and loved geek love. Will soon read diary of a teenage girl thanks for the recommendation!😁 Since posting my initial review, I found two books which I found comparable to Cruddy (albeit with less interesting, male narrators). Check out 8y

This is among a short list of novels which I use as a basis for character judgement. I speak not of the characters contained in Dunn's imaginative world but, of those who have read it. If you have read it, and did not like it, I will not save you from a burning building. Sorry😘
