Instead of reading the planned July book for #naturalitsy, I'm going to enjoy some shark books in honor of Shark Week 🦈💙🦈
“the most desolate location on the planet, nature had found a way to allow life to not only exist, but to thrive.” Let‘s see …. I love terrible shark movies , let‘s check how I feel about shark books ❤️
I really liked this narrative historical book. I only wish there were pictures.
A beautifully illustrated picture book about scientist Eugenie Clark who loved sharks but felt that they were undervalued BC most humans fear them. But she swam with them and cuddled with them in the ocean. Sharks were her passion 🦈

“While their 800,000 human neighbors done on steaks, salads, and sandwiches, the white sharks hunt for their favorite meal”
It has many illustrations that help the reader understand what is being described. It has diagrams when exposing the sharks body such as it‘s blood, eyes, and teeth
This is a picture book that gives a lot of information about sharks. It tells a story instead of listing off facts. It talks about their prey, their anatomy, how they swim, their teeth, and more. This would be a great book for middle to older elementary aged children.
Shark Lady is a biography about a girl named Eugenie Clark. She has loved sharks since she first saw them in an aquarium and has wanted to swim with them and study them. Many people disagreed with Eugenie and thought sharks were scary or ugly. They also thought women should not be scientists. She grows up to prove them wrong and goes on dives and research sharks. This book was written by Jess Keating and illustrated by Marta Álvarez Miguéns.
