Noir: A Novel | Christopher Moore

*sigh* Moore used to be an auto-buy author for me, but I think that time has passed. Some of the humor ("humor") just isn't my taste anymore, and this was so chaotic that it got boring honestly. And I feel like 1940s, venomous snake, Roswell-ish stuff could have been so great. The last 35% or so of this was just kind of a chore to finish. ???

AlaMich I‘m sorry to hear that! I really like him too, and was looking forward to this. 😕 6y
SarahSaysRead Did you read she'd like Sacre Bleu? I wasn't crazy about that one, but if you enjoyed it then maybe this will work for you. I think I just prefer his older stuff: Lamb, Fluke, Bloodsucking Fiends, etc. 6y
SarahSaysRead @AlaMich Whoops, forgot to tag you in my reply. 6y

AlaMich @SarahSaysRead I‘ve read Island of the Sequined Nun, BF and a couple others, but what I‘ve really loved were the audio versions of Fool and Serpent of Venice. The writing combined with the narrator had me rolling! 🤣🤣🤣 So it sounds like we might be on opposite ends of the C. Moore spectrum 😉 6y
SarahSaysRead @AlaMich Oooh yeah, I did enjoy Fool a lot 😄 6y
AlaMich @SarahSaysRead I have to say, the phrase, “heinous f*****y” stayed with me for a long time...hard to work it into conversation, though! 6y
Blueberry I've seen him on book tour 2 or 3 times. He is soo funny. 6y
