Wow. Let me just say this book is powerful. I read it to my boys over the past month and they were so intrigued by the stories and it allowed for dialogue about a topic often not spoken of with kids. We all loved it. I cried during many sections. We all cried tonight as we finished the book.

I will say the writing is rough at times but if you can over look it, it's worth the read.

irre What age group is it good for? 2y
aevrabel @irre my boys are 8 and 13. I would say it was a little over my 8 year olds head at times and I had to stop and explain a lot. I found it in the 8-12 section of our library, but my personal opinion would be 10-18. 2y
irre Thanks. My daughter is 8 so I think I‘ll wait a couple of years before I give it to her. 2y

I reread this book many, many times as a kid! Though it wasn't nearly the type of book I tended to gravitate towards, Ida's strength and courage struck a chord with me. ~ #Day14 #BooksSetInASchool #booktober #bookphotochallenge ~ @RealLifeReading ~ #FunFridayPhoto #MiddleGradeBook

she_barks I took my son to meet Avi when he was in 2nd grade. I have the cutest picture if the two of them. He's a really interesting guy! 3y
