#7days7covers day 3. I love all the Mercedes Thompson covers, but here‘s a cool graphic novel cover.

#lyradora want to play here?

And later on: "I'm going to go tear through our budgeted monthly supply of hand sanitizer. Try to keep your pages to yourself until I find some gloves and/or tongs."
Laughed until I cried!

lyradora That is awesome! 😂 6y
ravenlee #lyradora My first BN had a changing table in the men's restroom, and we used to rock-paper-scissors on closings to see who'd go get the magazines tucked into it. The receiving mgr would reshrink-wrap them and put then back out for sale. Still makes me shudder. 6y

Pickpick

This is a fantastic debut novel & the beginning of a great trilogy! I appreciated the intricate world building the author did; she has set the stage for Book2 beautifully! I listened to the audio & was thankful to hear the correct pronunciation of many unfamiliar terms associated w/ the Middle East folklore. However, the inner politics (which play a crucial role) were confusing in audio form & I had to do a few rewinds. (Cont. in comments)

TheBookKeepers Reading the text may have helped the confusion, but I'm not sure. Either way it's worth it to read slowly so you grasp the caste system of the daevas. I liked many of the characters & the tinge of romance. I think the romance fell towards the 2nd half & hope to see it continue more consistently through the next installment. Book 2 is set to publish in the US in Jan 2019. Great read! Let me know your opinions or if you have it on your TBR! 6y

DGRachel I loved it - one of the best books I‘ve read this year and I‘m looking forward to book 2. 6y
lyradora @ravenlee @TheBookKeepers it's on my To Buy list. 😊 I look for it every time I hit the used bookstore. 6y
Areader2 No I haven‘t, it‘s a good read? 6y
TheBookKeepers @Areader2 I enjoyed it! It's a trilogy & I'm reading the 3rd book now. It's similarly set in the Middle East, but uniquely different from The City of Brass. Less politics, more action. I'd definitely recommend it if you enjoyed the setting of City of Brass!! (edited) 6y
Areader2 Definitely,thanks! 6y

Mary Bennett, not so surprising. Which sister are you? Which Bennet Sister Are You? https://www.buzzfeed.com/katieheaney/which-bennet-sister-are-you?utm_term=.xx35b...

lyradora I read a short story once which cast Mary Bennett as a secret witch who found a grimoire buried in the family library. 😊 6y

Uprooted | Naomi Novik
Pickpick

There was a lot going on in this book: multiple fairy tale elements woven together, a coming-of-age story, some romance, court intrigue...quite a bit to keep track of. I really enjoyed it. I found the Wood Queen terrifying and very believable in the end. I hope to find more of Novik's work soon.
#lyradora have you read this?
