She can honestly do no wrong. The way she weaves a story is remarkable. I so want to meet her one day.

Finished my first book of #24in48! I had under 100 pages left so was easy to get this one done. Atkinson continues to be maybe my favorite writer ever and I absolutely loved this fourth installment of the Jackson Brodie books. Can‘t wait to read Big Sky, and I need to figure out how to watch the tv adaptation. 5 hours, 7 minutes done and going strong!

cathipink The adaptations are so great, and fairly short (lots is glossed over/excluded, understandably). It's only the first three books but I hold out hope the others will be adapted. Maybe your library has them? 4d

So I spent the entire day reading in the garden!
I'm in awe of the descriptive prose. Stunning and hugely horrifying at times.
However, I found the actual account incredibly depressing even though there were humorous bits.
Therefore I'm torn between liking and feeling a bit ugh!

When a book catches your eye and thus it's the next to read...
Amazing description which is hard to believe is a translation :)

Well, I enjoyed the fourth installment of the Jackson Brodie series- though this one left a lot more unanswered questions than the others that makes me very thankful that I didn‘t wait almost nine years before getting to start the next book!! This one is a bit darker and not quite as funny, but is still an engaging and hard to put down read! #DogsOfLitsy

It‘s been a whirlwind of a weekend. My husband has been in Florida for 3 days and my panic disorder has been in full swing. I‘m finally calm enough to enjoy reading, so I‘m taking full advantage of this quiet morning and reminding myself that, through it all, I‘m still a good mom, even when I have to push past the panic to love on my kiddos.

Happy reading to all on holiday, today! I hope it will be peaceful and enriching.

Notafraidofwords Sending you lots of hugs. 3mo

ShyBookOwl I know the feeling. So glad you got at least a little peace in. 💛 3mo
saresmoore @ShyBookOwl Thank you. It‘s tough to live with, though much better than it used to be. Have you found anything that helps when you‘re beginning to spiral? 3mo
batsy ❤️❤️❤️ 3mo
TrishB I concur - you‘re a great Mum. You‘re a person too, sometimes it‘s hard being both ❤️ take care. Sending hugs. 3mo
Kalalalatja You are doing the best you can everyday, and that‘s enough. Take care ❤️ 3mo
MicheleinPhilly You are a superhero. When I am in the throes of panic I can‘t even take care of myself. Your kiddos are lucky to have you. ❤️ 3mo
saresmoore @TrishB Too true! I think, now that my kids are halfway to adulthood, they appreciate getting to see my human side. I just have to remember that it‘s a good thing. Thank you. ♥️ 3mo
saresmoore @Kalalalatja Yes! We all are. Even the perfectionists who don‘t believe it (me). 😄 Thank you, friend. 3mo
saresmoore @MicheleinPhilly I‘ve no doubt you are capable of rising to any occasion. Teeth chattering nausea + certainty of imminent death is just brutal, whether in the company of minors or alone! ♥️ Lucy was appalled when she offered me chocolate and I politely declined. “Not even chocolate helps?!” #harshtruths 3mo
AmyG Feel better. I have this mediation tape that i listen to when I panic...sometimes makes me feel better. Hope all has passed. And yes, it‘s important to let your children see you are a human being...not perfect as none of us are. It‘s truth and It allows them to feel and be human themselves. 3mo

erzascarletbookgasm That‘s a great reminder to yourself. ❤️Hugs. 3mo
ShyBookOwl @saresmoore just recognizing that I'm creating the spiral and telling myself I'll get through it as I have before is a big help. It doesn't stop it, but it keeps me somewhat grounded throughout. Unfortunately, I still have a ways to go before I can feel in control of it. Only beginning to seek help recently. How about you? 3mo
Tamra It‘s good to know we aren‘t alone! 💚 3mo
saresmoore @AmyG Thank you for that truth, Amy. I‘ve been recognizing my need for more meditative practices—your reminder is helpful! 3mo
saresmoore @ShyBookOwl That is so good! I‘ve been practicing a lot of cognitive behavioral therapy techniques for a long time. The complications of many phobias cloud my awareness sometimes. I‘ve managed & coped for over 15 years, but am recognizing that it‘s time to find a good therapist and banish this shit forever! Ha! Best wishes for your journey to health. ♥️ 3mo
saresmoore @Tamra Isn‘t it? My mom also has it and reminds me that it‘s no different than a physical ailment, nothing to be ashamed of, and a perfectly acceptable reason to take a break or back out of commitments, if needed. Just remembering that I‘m not a solitary freak of nature is a huge help! 🙃♥️ 3mo
Tamra @saresmoore definitely not! We all carry our challenges with us. Isn‘t it funny how in clear moments I can unequivocally say my fear or anxiety is irrational or overblown, but in the moment that is lost or not entirely helpful. The mind is a weird thing, like it highjacks itself. 🤨 Being a parent brings out the worst for worries on many levels. But it is something of a comfort knowing it‘s very typical! 3mo
ShyBookOwl @saresmoore I couldn't agree more! I'm curious about CBT too. I'll have to look more into it. All the best on your journey, as well! 3mo
Merethebookgal *hugs* 💗💗💗 3mo
saresmoore @ShyBookOwl All books surely have their flaws, but I‘ve found Brené Brown‘s The Gifts of Imperfection (I‘m a total perfectionist) and the tagged book to be helpful. 3mo
ShyBookOwl @saresmoore thank you! My therapist actually asked me to watch her Netflix special! I better get on that 😳. I'll stack her book as well! 3mo
Sarah83 *hugs* 😘 3mo
ShyBookOwl @saresmoore I just started doing the what-if exercise in this book with a bunch of my fears and I learned A LOT about myself. This is really eye-opening. Thank u for the rec! 3mo

“Tracy wondered if her own parents would have been willing to sacrifice themselves to save her. Her mother had lingered on after Tracy‘s father died and in her final days gave the impression that she wasn‘t going unless she could take Tracy down with her. Her mother had the DNA of a scorpion, built to outlast a nuclear winter. The cancer got her in the end, though... The diamonds and cockroaches were free to inherit the earth now she was gone.“

After finishing a disappointing read, settling back in with Kate Atkinson‘s clever & lively storytelling is a delight!

This one (as the title hints) is teeming with Emily Dickinson references. Every little allusion and connection in her books is like a chocolate Easter egg, waiting to be discovered.

TrishB She‘s awesome ❤️ 3mo
saresmoore @TrishB Reading her books is comforting, satisfying, and inspiring all at once. I love how her characters are tragically, yet wonderfully imperfect and you get to be inside each of their heads. 3mo

There is about to be an epic and elaborate Harry Potter themed, magical-egg-gathering treasure hunt ‘round here...but first, coffee and a bit of Kate Atkinson.

AlaMich Don‘t you love those double-walled mugs?! They keep your beverage hot much longer than ceramic! They break easily though. I speak from a lot of experience. 🙁 4mo
saresmoore @AlaMich They‘re the best! But yes, definitely fragile. These small ones have been good because they‘re easier to handle for my tiny, clumsy hands. 😆 4mo

Another sad story in the 6th of the Richard Nottingham series. From what has occurred this time to some of the main characters I would assume there will be new characters appearing in the next book. Lots of murders need solving in this story. The investigation takes place in a methodical way and is easy to follow. Another interesting and enjoyable book by Chris Nickson.
