This started off quite well but has become rather boring now. DNF @ 40%.

Notice on the white board in the bottom illustration, there is a positive note. I really enjoy this extra detail.

This book would be a good book for students who may not like to read as much or have a difficult time getting motivated to read. I think this book opens up conversations about the use of different pronouns or same-sex couples. I think this is something that would be at parents' discretion but, it is not a big chunk of the book that would need pre-teaching.

Cool Code by Deirdre Langeland was an interesting book about a middle school girl starting at a new school. I think this book would be good for the grades 4th-8th grade. I think these ages would like the book because it is a quick and easy read, but also is up with the times. It could be interesting to this age group because a main chunk of the book is about making and using an app with coding, while also incorporating humor and relatable context

Having been homeschooled by her coder parents for years, Zoe isn‘t quite sure how to fit in in middle school. She develops an app to help her be cool. I really liked the story and illustrations, but found the resolution really quick and rushed feeling.

4⭐️ This was a really fun and interesting graphic novel. Zoe has been homeschooled her entire life and is now going to school for the very first time in the middle of a semester during middle school. Zoe‘s parents are coders, and she learned from them. She developed her own app, called the cool code to help her in every day life to be a better person than she already is. But her original app is not as good or work as well as it should. ⬇️

LibrarianRyan When Zoe joins the coding club, the entire club, take it up as a project to make it better and make Zoe one of the cool kids. Zoe by complete mistake makes her own friends and learns that being cool isn‘t always what it‘s cracked up to be if you have to be someone besides yourself. This book was a lot of fun and had a great message and made coding more cool then kids might think of it otherwise. 1y

Phenomenal book to introduce children to the idea of coding without overwhelming them with actual code. They will still learn how to break down a task and basic coding vocabulary.

Straightening up the library and I know many of you love #bookmarks, it occurred to me that I should share what the kids often leave behind. 🤔 I try to return them, but they've all gone home for the break. So this will go into my stay bookmark pile.

Cortg Fun find! My hubby‘s in Japan and I‘m sure he‘ll bring home a pack or 2 of Japanese Pokémon cards. My son has every language card they print ? 3y
mandarchy @Cortg what a great collection to have! My son collected Godzillas, he's not really into Pokémon. But he wants to travel to Japan and stay at the Godzilla hotel. 3y
Cortg @mandarchy Super cool! I hope he gets there some day. Bucket list! 3y
