September is at its best! A Half Baken Idea by Olivia Potts is a book about youth, change and the salvation of the soul. Youth is the time when we enjoy challenges, mastered skills and small victories over difficulties. We know that behind us we have the stable hand of the family / or part of it /. But at some point things change.

Getting to know our backyard birds. There‘s something magical about seeing a picture in a book and seeing the real thing at the same time. #raisingreaders

I‘m excited to learn more about the birds in my neighborhood. I may not be leaving my house anytime soon but there‘s plenty to learn and enjoy right where I am!

TheBookHippie We love that book! 2y
BookishMe I like listening to the morning warblers and other crooners outside the window of the apartment. It was only yesterday I realised the screech of a kingfisher. I was wondering how I could learn to recognise the sounds of different birds 2y
Lindy You might enjoy listening to Melissa Harrison‘s weekly nature podcast, The Stubborn Light of Things. She talks a lot about birds. https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-stubborn-light-of-things/id1506585676?... 2y

Mtroiano @BookishMe this book is made for kids but it has a description of each bird‘s sound, detailed images, and descriptions of their habitat and food of choice! I think it‘s going be really helpful! 2y
BookishMe Sounds great! Actually those for kids can be more helpful in such topics ;D 2y

Another favorite for living books/nature homeschool - for any families that might enjoy with elementary school. We had corresponding nature journals that my kids loved drawing in (things they saw or found). Just sharing some less known resource ideas.

Pickpick

I really enjoyed this book, because it‘s style creates the feeling that the reader is involved with birdwatching properly. It is also very interesting, because the subject is very covered fully, because the author is trying to show the readers that birdwatching can be fun.

I would use this book in my classroom, because it covers all of the aspects of birdwatching. If my classroom is interested in birdwatching and nature seeing, then I could bring this book out for them to look through.
