Have been meaning to read this for years finally getting around to it and finding it hard to put down. Makes me want to visit the Dolomites.

Hard to believe I went this long in life without reading this gem. Such beautiful descriptions of nature, and a heartwarming tale that made me miss my grandparents. So glad I read it and so glad I purchased the book.
Thx so much @TheBookHippie for including Heidi in this month‘s #ChildrensClassicRead2024. I finally read this gem for the first time and loved it! 🙌🏻 I also watched the film version (on VHS!) with my Mom. Of course, the book is so much better, but the movie is perfectly cast with Shirley Temple as Heidi & it‘s quite amusing too. What a heartwarming adventure!
P.S. Count me in when we all move to the mountains and tend our goats!🐐

I enjoyed this book. I'm a little tempted to move to a Swiss village with the smell of fresh air, surrounded by flowers and goats and no technology. I'll be daydreaming about that while I'm stuck in front of my computer for too many hours tomorrow. #childrensclassicread2024 @TheBookHippie
Took a mental health day on Friday and decided to read this book over my long weekend. This book has been on my kids' lit bookshelf for years, but I never read it. Watched the Shirley Temple movie a million times as a kid though. #ChildrensClassicRead2024

Story time. Yesterday I was looking for my copies of Heidi. I knew I had a few and I came across the one that my brother-in-law gave me after my sister died, I knew it had belonged to my grandmother. Well, I open it up and found a note she had written to my grandmother when she was around eight which means I was about five. I can‘t believe I have this. 🩷

Molto commuovente, fa riflettere e mette un bel po‘ di angoscia e ansia. Bello, non proprio il mio tipo di libro ideal ma indubbiamente un best seller. Scorrevole e coinvolgente. Fa piangere 100% e venire rimorsi, forse un po‘ troppo pensato per smuovere cose e vendere. Non so
Finally finished this yesterday. The film adaption of this was my favorite movie of 2023 and I‘m glad to say Cognetti‘s writing was equally elegiac and haunting. One reviewer has called this a male version of Ferrante‘s My Brilliant Friend and I don‘t think it‘s an unfair comparison. It‘s a shame more male authors don‘t write about the complexity of male friendships.
At the beginning of the novel, Pietro, the narrator, is a child who lives in Milan with his parents in the 1980s. Both parents grew up in mountain villages and take him hiking, spend every summer in a mountain hut where he meets and befriends Bruno. This is the story of their friendship which will last 30 years and the story of Pietro‘s love for the mountains. Great premise but it‘s boring and predictable
