I haven't read The Last Unicorn yet, though l know the story through the film. This first version is different in many ways, there are characters who aren't in the published novel and the setting is contemporanea, rather than fantasy.
I understand why this version was abandoned, it meaders a lot. But there are already very deep ideas in here, so l know why it was salvaged, too
