It's odd, maybe, that I finished this in the waiting room of the hospital where this journey started for us. We're just getting started. I found this book insightful, hopeful, inspiring, and a little frightening. Not only was Kitty brave with each bite of food, so was her family that squarely faced the demon of anorexia. Beautiful read.

This one is a hard but necessary read. You can‘t go into it lightly—it takes heart and courage to read every page. I was a cutter many years ago but thankfully it never evolved into anything worse, and I was able to get away from the circumstances which had led me to do this to begin with. Many people suffer in silence and aren‘t able to get away. They deserve a voice and a village to keep believing in them.

I first read this book nearly 20 years ago. Even with the controversy over whether it‘s a true memoir, it‘s still a reckoning of a story. The intensity, the emotion, the rawness and messy humanity-it all holds up. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Book #93 in 2025

So, this isn't a book I would ever have thought I needed or wanted to read. Yet, here I am facing the same struggles with my 12 year old daughter. Praying I pick up some good advice and tips as we walk thru this darkness. (FYI, we are in therapy, too.)

Grief is a process we all experience - and Weller's ability to talk about it with compassion shines through in this book. I particularly enjoyed the poetry references throughout this book - it brought a distinct humanity to the otherwise difficult subject matter.
