There are so many places and times I‘d want to visit if time travel was a thing but this is not one of them. The book gives a clear picture of a small village during the Middle Ages. There are a few moments of pleasure but it was mostly a time of every moment being about the survival of you, your family and your fellow villagers. It is a wonder anyone survived. 4🌟#BookedinTime #EarlyMedieval

dabbe Boy, are you right! What an awful period to have lived! Got your “pick“ on the spreadsheet! 🤩 2mo
thegreensofa I read this for #BookedInTime too. It was exhausting even just reading it! 2mo

2024 is all about the challenge of filling other challenge prompts from my own library. Starting off #BookedinTime with 2 physical books from my shelves.

#ArtfulAugust Day 29: #SexySteamy seems a good fit for this John Berger novel.

Bond Men Made Free is all about providing context for the Wat Tyler Riot: so much context, context that reaches back a couple of centuries and extends across Europe. But he devotes a scant 7 pages devoted to the riots themselves. A lot of what Hilton has to say here is interesting -- he has a particular interest in social class -- and I'm glad I read the book. But I wished to learn a little more about the uprising itself.

My school library is purging. These two were in the bins. Any takers? LMK

Bookwormjillk Ha! My daughter just brought home Sophia‘s War from her school library purge. 3y
megnews Sophia‘s War was good. My daughter loves Sharon Creech. Our two elementary schools are merging into a one campus school and they‘re purging 2,000 books! 3y

Elvis got to the cover but the art is still intact. What is even happening here? Why are the oxen so small? I have so many questions.

But this book was SO good. If you like history and economics, give it a read. It‘s fascinating the way Christianity influenced early European economics, from the prioritization of cereal crops to make bread to the role of monasteries as creditors. It‘s not an easy read but it‘s chock full of knowledge 😁

Bk1 of May & my #bookspin & 1st Bk of #BookSpinBonanza is done! Loved this very much, I‘m a sucker for Russian folktales. I don‘t know why it took me so long to get to, I‘m stoked to have the next 2 books in the series as well. Highly recommend🙌 #Booked2020 #EccentricMC #ReadingWomensChallenge #FrequentlyRecommendedToYou #ReadingEurope2020 #Russia #MountTBR2020 #Bk21 #BeatTheBacklist2020 #Bk24 #ReadWithMrBook #May #DebutAuthor #MayBookBingo 👇

Librarybelle Perfect choice! And, the cover is so colorful! I like the US cover, but it‘s way more subdued than this edition! 4y
TheAromaofBooks Great review!! I really need to get to this one! 4y
