A Wizard of Earthsea | Ursula K. Le Guin

3.75⭐️

Sparrowhawk is known as one of the most famous wizards of his time. But how did he get there? The Earthsea novels take you through his adventures where it all starts with his skills as a boy and his naming ceremony where he becomes a man and take a his true name of Ged.

I used this as my Care of Magical Creatures Exam for the OWLs back in April. But I also read this for the #leguinalong

#owlsreadathon2020 Muggle Studies: a book from the perspective of a Muggle

Last minute addition to the challenge because I had a bit of time left!
I feel weird saying these words but... I would have liked more romance?
Who even am I? 😳

#owlsreadathon2020 Divination: a book picked from your TBR based on a random number

Sometimes, reviews are not helpful at all. Turns out it was the perfect book for me! I cried.

(Also, yes, it's the middle of spring, but here's an autumn aesthetic anyway)

Decided with the nice weather to walk to the park and read for an hour. I was able to get some quality nature viewing in of all the spring happy squirrels and made a lot of progress for my History of Magic Exam for #magicalreadathon

#owlsreadathon2020 Defense Against the Dark Arts: a book set by the sea or on the coast

Both too long and too short. I didn't really see the point, even if the premise is interesting.

🌟2.5

I‘m intrigued and excited to get to this whole stack actually. I did start The Moonstone back in 2018 I think 🤔 and put it down because the writing style was had to follow and I wanted to be able to dedicate more time to the book. I do have the tagged book on my #owlsreadathon TBR so hopefully I can get to that one fairly soon 🤞🏻

See anything of interest to you?

#owlsreadathon2020 Arithmancy: a book outside of your comfort zone

It was outside of my comfort zone because it's a full-on romance, and because Anne-Marie McLamore's writing didn't win me over the last time I've read something by them.

I can see why people would love it, but it still wasn't something I'd have picked up by myself if it didn't come from numerous Night Circus recs.

DADA OWL Exam: 3.5⭐️

During the slave trade, many African women were thrown over board because they were pregnant and caused too many issues during the trip to America. But what would have happened if the power of the ocean was able to save the unborn babies? What if water was able to do more than save them and it was actually able to transform them into a being able to survive in this new world? This is the story of the wajinru.
