Finished my first book for the #springcleaningreadathon and I loved it! A birthday present from @bookish_wookish it's a retelling of The Little Mermaid, the original bloody HCA story, as a modern magical realism story involving opera, composers, singers & Ireland. It was beautifully told & I found myself tearing through the last few chapters to find out the ending, which was perfect! For lovers of mermaids, Garden Spells & Practical Magic.⚓️🐳🐚

Lizpixie Oh, and this is my #LRC19 #LGBTQlove for the #LitsyReadingChallenge 3y
bookish_wookish So glad you liked it! I may have to read it too! 3y
BibliophileMomma I've been wanting to read this! 3y

My next read is this modern retelling of The Little Mermaid (the original dark version by HCA) which was a birthday gift from @bookish_wookish Kathleen is a soprano who's been plagued by stabbing pains in her feet, which only seawater helps soothe since she was a child. After a breakdown, her girlfriend Harry takes her to Ireland to investigate her family history for a cure. My #LRC19 #LGBTQlove book for #LitsyReadingChallenge

Story of L | Debra Hyde

#LGBTQlove I don't usually read erotica and was surprised that I liked this novel. I found L's journey into submission believable and strong. I liked how the two main characters felt like real people, and weren't living some crazy billionaire lifestyle.

#feistyfeb #day12 #diverselovestories This book came in an #owlcrate and is one of the first fantasy stories that I've heard of where the girl protagonist falls in love not with the prince, but with the princes sister. It was very brave of owlcrate to choose this book for their box, apparently they copped flak for it from some subscribers, but for me and for most of us, I'd say Bravo! I think it's fantastic. #diversereads #lgbtqlove

Fingersmith | Sarah Waters

Looking for ideas for this category in the #litsyreadingchallenge!

What's the best book you've read with an LGBTQ relationship? My fave would have to be Fingersmith, although Song of Achilles is up there too.

EclecticReaders We read "Simon vs..." back in December 2015 and we all loved it! 3y
Larkken This one's a fantasy : 3y

ApoptyGina69 Even Cowgirls Get the Blues. Rubyfruit Jungle. 3y
saresmoore I just read Hide by Matthew Griffin and it's incredible, if a bit dark. Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit is short, but wonderful. I also loved 3y
KVanRead It's super sad but 3y
Ubookquitous Loved Fingersmith, but I love 3y
Marchpane @MicheleinPhilly @Ubookquitous I love Fingersmith for the twisty plot, but Tipping the Velvet definitely wins for relationships!! And I ♥️Nan. 3y
Megabooks If you would like a lesbian one, try 3y
lrh9 Excellent YA LGBTQ relationship! 3y
Marchpane @Notafraidofwords @EclecticReaders @Larkken terrific suggestions! Thank you 😊 3y
Marchpane @ApoptyGina69 oh I've been wanting to read Rubyfruit Jungle for the longest time! @saresmoore Hide sounds great 👍 I'll need to track that one down. 3y
Marchpane @KVanRead @cathysaid have to admit, I've been a bit intimidated to read that one 😔 (edited) 3y
Marchpane @Abby-J @Ebooksandcooks @Shvonne these are all new to me and look amazing! Stacked them all! 😊 3y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk Caring so much for the lesbian and trans characters in this book opened up my rural Southern mind. 3y
bookdrunkard78 I liked Two Boys Kissing, I think David Levithan is pretty great. I heard so many good things about Aristotle and Dante, so that's what I chose for the challenge. I also liked Beyond Magenta, but that's non-fiction, still, quite eye opening 3y
mostlycatsandcoffee Oh yes, Song of Achilles and also Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe! 3y
aeeklund This book is absolutely beautiful and, though magical realism, rings with the truths of the author's own experiences. 3y
Yellowpigeon It's light and fluffy, sometimes we need that. 3y
prowlix I am adding a vote for Tipping The Velvet and Aristotle and Dante! They are so great! I'm also adding Giovanni's Room to the list which is pretty heartbreaking but beautiful 3y
queerbookreader Do graphic novels count? If so 3y
Marchpane @lemonlime799 that looks AMAZING. Is it a standalone? 3y
queerbookreader @Marchpane To my knowledge it is. It's sooooooo cute and futuristic and queer and ugh my heart exploded reading it I hope you enjoy it if you read it 3y
leslieisreading Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda for a delightful YA selection! 3y
KVanRead @Marchpane it's gutting at times, but such an amazing book - could not put it down. 3y
Dragon Do steamy reads count? The live romance Get Booked Podcast had some good suggestions. One of my favourites was 3y
JessicaThunstromNelson The Micah Grey series (Pantomime, Shadowplay, and soon Masquerade), by Laura Lam. 3y
MyNamesParadise Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin 3y
SaunteringVaguelyDownwards Dating myself with The Last Herald-Mage trilogy in the Valdemar series by Mercedes Lackey. 3y

Ask the Passengers | A.S. King

I really enjoyed this coming of age, coming to terms with being different, small town family drama. The format was a bit strange with the interludes of the passengers' stories, and I can see how that wouldn't be for everyone, but I thought it worked in its own odd way. #LitsyReadingChallenge #LRC19 #LGBTQlove @jessica (image from interwebz)

Adam Silvera is a heartbreaker, but he does it with hope. This book is about losing your first love in more ways than one and trying to understand life after that. I think we can all find something to relate to in that. One complaint: I wish the dates didn't have years attached (there was a flaw in 1/17 that I couldn't ignore). #litsyAtoZ - H #LRC19 #LGBTQLove

Heideschrampf Might be just what i need right now. 3y
MLVReads @Heideschrampf his first book, More Happy Than Not, is very good too (if you haven't read it!). 3y
