TheAromaofBooks Thanks for sharing this, Jennifer - a truly nuanced and thoughtful response. 4y
Lcsmcat Thanks for sharing. The internet, and social media in particular, is not very good at long-form nuanced discussion, and the results an be quite harsh. I‘m glad Litsy is a place for thoughtful dialogue and respect. 4y
Megabooks I was glad to read this. I definitely did not completely understand where JK was coming from. I still don‘t totally agree with her, and that‘s fine, but I get how/why she feels as she does. I doubt many people understand what‘s in anyone‘s heart 100%. I will gladly continue to follow you. Litsy is an inclusive place. How inclusive each particular individual decides to be in who they follow is up to that Litten. Thanks for sharing. 4y

Bookwomble Rowling is an unrepentant transphobe, who is also a poor ally of LGBT+ people generally. I'm glad to see that Daniel Radcliffe and Eddie Redmayne speaking out against Rowling's awful bigotry. As you request, I have unfollowed you. https://www.theguardian.com/film/2020/jun/10/eddie-redmayne-joins-daniel-radclif... 4y
Catherine_Willoughby You may follow any religion, be any gender you wish , any sexual orientation or dress as you please . You only have one life but can't alter you genetics. I carry a defected mutation gene , I have given this mutation gene to my oldest daughter 😔. Genetics gives us more than our BIRTH GENDER but our skin pigmentation, eye colour & hair type. We can alter all these through cosmetic or by other means 4y
Catherine_Willoughby but its our dna that will tell future scientists these genetic facts not what way we wore our hair or other cosmetic or beauty treatments during our lives. 4y
Catherine_Willoughby Will still follow you . We are all entitled to an opinion on such matters . Its not black or white issue - its GREY like most opinions . 4y
Kboltz She made a mistake and the younger generation who only get their info from tweets, FB, Instagram and the like only see what they are given. Celebrities always follow everyone because no one in their shoes cannot be different in thought or in belief. I‘m fine with everyone out there, the problem is that I‘m not monetarily going to “sponsor” them. Rowling used the like button and the crazies out there decided her beliefs for her. 😫 4y
marleed JK‘s fear of abuse because of her experience is real and i hope she finds resolution. To fear all men because of her experience is a separate issue to resolve because that‘s how prejudice is taught. To discriminate a transgender woman because she is not ‘woman enough‘ breaks my heart. I respect your opinion. I personally have no issues with the trans community and I‘m grateful for two wonderful trans friends I have the pleasure to know. (edited) 4y
WomanistBibliophile The way she has been treated is abhorrent, and sadly it‘s all too common for women to be subjected to this virulent misogyny just for speaking up for our basic rights. And it‘s our basic rights at risk if the recognition of biological sex is erased 4y
Oldschool_millenial Lots to unpack on why I SEVERELY disagree, but I am too sleep deprived for civil conversation at the moment. For now here's a video by a transgender individual on this whole thing. It pre-dates Rowling's letter by 5 days, but it's importan to share in this conversation. https://youtu.be/USoIAWVkCvk 4y
