March: Book One | Andrew Aydin, Nate Powell, John Lewis

Sharing this post from @theshrinkette Great idea to put forth some diverse books in the world to push back the trolls! I'm recommending the amazing March books about the truly heroic John Lewis and his fellow non-violent activists who risked everything for change. #IStandForDiversity #WeNeedDiverseBooks #reccommendsday

5. Anyone that knows me knows that I've basically been evangelising this book ever since I read it. When you read it you'll know why. One of the most powerful books of this year. #Recommendsday #WeNeedDiverseBooks #IStandForDiversity

Viji Definitely one of my favorites this year, maybe in my top ten ever! 8y

4. Need some well-written naughty romance in your life? Look no further. Between this and her Fantasy series, Alisha usually has me in sweats by the time I get to the end of her books. They're basically unputdownable. #Recommendsday #WeNeedDiverseBooks #IStandForDiversity

2. This is the middle grade novel on gender identity that was necessary. It's so sweet and affirming, and perfect for 8 year olds. I hope kids out there trying to figure out their gender identity have access to books like this one. #Recommendsday #WeNeedDiverseBooks #IStandForDiversity

Bibliogeekery I recently read this to my six year old niece who's transgender. She loved it! I'm so grateful that books like this exist #transbooks 8y

1. OMG this book. 15 year-old me needed this book. 24 year -old me just needed to hug Juliet after this book. Warmed my friggin' heart. Poor Juliet is so excited to do this internship with her mentor, and is completely disillusioned when she realises that said mentor is a white feminist. How does Juliet deal? Read it to find out. A book I'll read more than once. #IStandForDiversity #WeNeedDiverseBooks #Recommendsday

It's #Recommendsday!

ICYMI, over on Twitter, a black author tweeted a hashtag to promote and support diversity that went viral. Since then, this author has received horrible responses from the trolls and the white supremacists- including death threats. Absolutely not okay.

Therefore, I'd like to use this opportunity to recommend 5 amazing books by non-cishet/White/able dudes. Check 'em out! #IStandForDiversity #WeNeedDiverseBooks

KVanRead Oh wow. Thanks for the heads up. Great idea. I'm on it! 8y
