I decided if I did an audiobook I could squeeze in one more for my May nonfiction reads. This was such a good choice. Already about halfway through and it's just so well written with a great narrator. But mostly I only knew the pop culture phenomenon of RBG. I didn't quite know WHY until now. This woman is my new hero. #amreadingnonfiction #biography #feministreads

My latest read is inspired by Matthew, my anonymous Goodreads troll. Smash the patriarchy! #feministreads

Lindy I listened to an interview with David Neiwert on Radio NZ yesterday about his book 6y
silentrequiem @Lindy Oooh, that looks fascinating, and depressing. And illuminating. I'll have to look it up. 6y

Done! Wow, this book. I loved it. This was more The Martian than Hidden Figures. Space travel, the drive to survive, the psychology of it all... I really want a companion story about what is going on during this book back on Earth.

I also really wanted a certain racist South African to be shoved out the airlock.

EliNeedsMoreShelves I love this series! It deserves a lot more coverage. One of my favorites this year. 6y
silentrequiem @EliNeedsMoreShelves Did you see that Kowal signed a deal for two more? So excited? 6y

I started book two last night and already love it! And I can't wait to see the author this weekend at Bubonicon! #feministreads

readordierachel What's Bubonicon? A convention? 6y
silentrequiem @ReadOrDieRachel Yup! It's Albuquerque's local literary SFF convention. Kowal and John Scalzi are the guests of honor this year. 6y
readordierachel How cool! Sounds like it'll be fun :) 6y

I loved this so much! Women pushing to be included in the forefront of space exploration! Math saves the day! The nerds fly fighter planes and rockets and are awesome. I loved the honest details of anxiety, and that Elma had to face the causal racism and sexism of the 1950s.

Smart ladies being awesome. What more could you ask for? Onwards and upwards! (The sequel is already waiting for me to start.) 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀

abbylibrarian I want to read this so badly! I‘ve had it on order for my library but our vendor is taking FOREVER to process it! Glad to know you liked it.... I will continue to wait patiently... 😂 6y
silentrequiem @abbylibrarian So today, Kowal told is that the books are sold out from the publisher and they're doing a second printing. You're not the first librarian I've heard say they can't get a copy. This might explain it? 6y
abbylibrarian @silentrequiem Maybe? The sequel arrived in our Friday shipment! 😂 6y

What a wild ride! This story was born out of anger, of how womanhood is denigrated, how women are treated as objects and bearers of blame, how we are placed onto pedestals of meekness and obedience, or made monsters if we exhibit brains and a spine. It's Victorian body horror but also a touching love story between Mariah and Lady. It's gruesome and awful, sexy and sweet, and cathartic. So cathartic. I want more. #ARC #NetGalley #feministreads
