Carnet de Voyage | Craig Thompson
5 posts | 10 read | 2 to read
Craig Thompson spent three months traveling through Barcelona, the Alps, and France, as well as Morocco, researching his next graphic novel, Habibi. His artwork was lovely, but the narrator drove me to distraction moping through Morocco wallowing in grief, yes, but a lot of self-pity and a deep clingy neediness around "the lover who left him" and his inability to be alone.
Look, you need time to grieve, fine. But a few woebegone whining sessions in and neither the author nor I wanted to spend any time with himself.

#ReallyRandomFebruary #Europe This graphic memoir takes place while the author is exploring several spots in Europe and Morocco to research his next project. I fell in love with his illustrations in this book. So amazing.

Such a beautiful book. Three months traveling. The world amazingly documented. Not to mention his thoughts and feelings through it all. Incredible artwork.

I enjoyed his graphic novel Blankets so much now I‘m really loving this one. His art work is beautiful and he has a great sense of humor that really comes through. Plus he seems so open and honest in these looks into his life.

Lindy Am I remembering correctly that in this volume there are other comics artists that Thompson interacts with, so we see different styles of art? 6y
SoniaC @Lindy I‘m still very early in. Not quite sure yet. 6y
