My copy‘s a little worn - I‘ve had it close to 30 years, and can‘t recall if I ever read it before.

Marguerite is now Maggie, indentured servant headed for Maine in 1743 with her new family. She faces hardship, adversity, prejudice, and danger in her new life. A surprisingly honest look at life in the wilderness, with believable fear and some prejudice against “Injuns” but much less than I expected. Originally published 1932.
