A tautly written, deliciously gothic tale of a prodigal daughter returning home to family secrets – and the man she could never forget. Twelve years ago, Maven ‘May’ Blackthorn fled her hometown of Solstice, Vermont, making her way to New York City to reinvent herself. Now Maven’s back for her grandmother’s funeral, bringing along her daughter, Bea. What starts as a family reunion quickly takes a turn for the worse when Maven comes face to face with lost love Oliver Croft – scion of the powerful Croft Pharmaceutical dynasty, supposed murderer of her mother and, unbeknown to anyone but Maven herself, Bea’s father. As a Croft, Oliver belongs to the very same family that, 300 years ago, burned one of Maven's ancestors at the stake. Maven and Oliver might just be able to forge a new path with the family they created, but rumours swirl around her family's supernatural legacy. Happiness is within sight – if Maven can only avoid becoming the Blackthorns’ next casualty . . .

Pickpick

Blackthorn was a terrific read. Slow Start but quickly progressed to a “Can't put down“. I wanted more when it was over. Blend in First Love, paranormal, is the child mine?, eerie aunties, Grandmas body disappeared after death. Contains many Layers. Thank you to #NetGalley and #MacMillanAudio for the chance to listen to this DRC. #ConnorCrais, #TaraLangella, #VeronicaPace. The narration was fantastic.
