Rare Flavours
Rare Flavours | Ram V.
2 posts | 1 read
Discover the tantalizing tale of Rubin Baksh, a demonic Rakshasa with a down-to-earth dream of being the next Anthony Bourdain. To achieve his vision, Rubin enlists Mo, a filmmaker who has seen better days, to document the world-renowned cuisine of India and the people behind such glorious food. But little does Mo know that there’s more to Rubin than meets the eye, and the mortals play a darker role in the show than they were prepared for... Entice your palate and feast on the follow up offering from the Eisner, Harvey, and Ringo Award-nominated The Many Deaths of Laila Starr team of Ram V (Detective Comics, Blue In Green) and Filipe Andrade (Fantastic Four, Star) with this masterpiece marrying the supernatural, Indian cuisine, and the cutthroat world of chef-driven celebrity! Collects Rare Flavours issues #1-6.

August StoryGraph stats
I read several comics this month, all VERY different. Us and Rare Flavours are easy favorites. Discipline is an interesting experiment from the always fascinating Dash Shaw. By the Fire We Carry is an excellent crash course in the history of native land in America. It is always inspiring, and, sadly, constantly relevant, to read the words of Dr. King. Currently working on Fairy Tale by the other King, Stephen King 😉

Pickpick

I would certainly have voted for Ram V as best writer over Gene Luen Yang for best writer in this year's Eisner on this vs. Lunar New Year alone. A demonic Rakshasa, Rubin, struggles with its nature as it embarks on a Bourdain-inspired journey through Indian cuisine. The epic team behind The Many Deaths of Laila Starr create another masterpiece.
