•I'll give this props for keeping me interested, and her writing style definitely still works for me. It was an ultra-compelling story right up until the end. Unfortunately, the ending ultimately left me perplexed as to how it could've all gone down like that.
•I don‘t usually like Leslie Howard‘s narration but she didn‘t suck in this. Aiden Snow only has a small part in this, but he nailed it as usual.
I must admit, I really couldn‘t put this down— the premise of an English professor receiving chapters detailing her own biggest secret certainly hooked me in from the very start! Unfortunately, Elizabeth makes terrible choices throughout which makes her unsympathetic. Plot-wise, the twists revealed certainly come as a surprise but they feel unjustified & manipulative just to shock. For that, this would be fun to discuss but it left me unsatisfied.
New month, new books coming in!
On the left, #bookofthemonth #botm
Up top, 3 of the ALL books I wanted from #aardvarkbookclub #aardvark @AardvarkBookClub this month… (w/ a squishy maybe on the romance). The tagged is my “pick” for the month & the one I‘m most excited about!
On the right, 2 add-ons from b&n (that‘s Vandermeer‘s first, re-designed).
And in the middle, my sister got bugga that “treehouse” for when he goes over to her house. 🥰🥰
