This was unexpectedly great! It‘s funny (decidedly on purpose, not due to poor writing) both in terms of the plot and imagery, and the romance isn‘t cringy at all despite the husband being a part-time horse.

Soft pick. This was a solid 3.5-4 for me, and honestly, I might have liked it more if I didn't read it immediately following For Whom the Belle Tolls, which I ADORED. The story was good, if a little formulaic (which is not a bad thing!). I really enjoyed the world-building and the setting.

This book took me by surprise in a fantastic way.

This was fun, charming, whimsical, and once I got into it, this was full of sharp and smart characters with some representation of LGBTQ and chronic pain.

I'm really glad I decided to bump this up and read way faster than I expected due to the quick pacing, the marriage of convenience, the MCs catching actual feelings, and saving a kingdom.
