This book is amazing and has beautiful art in it . It‘s a sequel to the nameless city but even though it‘s a sequel it‘s still a really nice short read.

REREAD 7/25/2021: Still so much fun!
Intrigue! Betrayal! Friendship! Fire! Secret languages! This book is awesome! I am loving the series and can't wait for the third book!
Another good bit quick chapter in this story. The plot thickens! Really enjoy these little graphic novels and I‘m ready to see what happens next !
Another great novel with Kai and Rat, including many surprising twists along the way! I‘m so happy to have come across this trilogy, as now I can‘t wait to get my hands on book 3 and see how it all ends!! If you love graphic novels, do yourself a favor and pick up this series ☺️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Dear school librarians: please please PLEASE buy this series for your students. These are all-ages comics that deal with issues like colonialism, power, and the threat of war in an accessible but not simplistic way. I want all sighted kids (and adults) to read them.
While the first book had a lot of little moments that added up to a charming book, the sequel had a few big moment with a lot of filler, IMO. But I guess it was necessary to push the story forward to set up for the next (and last?) book. I'll definitely be getting the third in 2018.

Faith Erin Hicks was the first cartoonist I fell in love with. Her artful storytelling is just beautiful. And this series is no exception. Still an exciting story! Cannot wait for the conclusion to this trilogy.
A really cool graphic novel. Second in a series but it could stand alone. Awesome art and cool story that builds.
Wow. Faith Erin Hicks doesn't even flirt with the second-book slump so common with trilogies. She charges straight at the same complex issues surrounding colonialism she dealt with in the first volume, then CRANKS THE STAKES RIGHT THE HELL UP. The whole thing hit me so hard I don't even know when I'll be able to talk about it.
These books are among the best comics I've read in the last few years. And I read a lot of comics.
Tournament activity done for the morning, and it's back to the hotel for a read and a chocolate. I am missing my kitties, though.
Issues of conquest politics and social justice in an entertaining graphic novel fantasy, with gorgeous full-colour art in warm tones. The setting is reminiscent of old China and it's practically a character because it's so vivid. Definitely start with volume 1 before reading this one, because there's a lot going on. Volume 3 is still in the creation stage. Age 10 or 11 and up.
Book synchronicity: I'm currently listening to Janie Chang's Dragon Springs Road, set in early 20th c Shanghai with magic elements. I just started volume 2 of The Nameless City graphic novels, set in a fantasy world much like 13th c China. Both books feature girls waiting, hidden, for mothers who don't return.
After preventing the assassination of the General of all Blades, our protagonists are once again poised to become heroes. This time by stopping an upcoming Civil War. I can't wait to read the conclusion once the third book is out!
Lazy Saturday: I should be running errands, but #NetGalley calls!
Loved the first book in THE NAMELESS CITY series and can't wait to read this second installment. Love the artwork, the characters, and the story line. From First Second Books.
Okay, this is book 2 of the Nameless City Series. I didn‘t know that when I started. It does take some catching up if you have not read book one, but not so bad you are completely lost. I like the story of a city on the verge of war, and two kids who want peace, but want to be helpful as well. Overall I like the story in general, but I am not a fan of the pointillism graphics. I would have preferred solid lines.
