Tough audiobook. TW Rape and suggestive sex. Discussed sensitively
Sara was raped at 18 by a rich boy, whom got convicted and sent to jail. She left to raise the baby. 8 years later she‘s home and runs into the guys twin. This book takes forgiveness to a new level, though not sure I‘d forgive him, even as he‘s realized his mistake and worked on himself to make a change. So much heartache affecting how both sides cannot move on without letting go

This was a different way to look at forgiveness. The audio really brought the characters to life. Each character has to deal with forgiveness and moving forward in their own way. No easy decisions here. While parts of it seemed far fetched at first glance it was all woven together into a pattern that helped the characters confront the past and move fully into their futures.

An absolutely fabulous debut novel. This is a story about forgiveness & redemption with a touching romance & I loved it. I particularly enjoyed the character of Alana, an 8 year old genius, who while important to the plot also served to cut through the crap & voice what is important. The writing is beautiful & author's trick of having one minor character only speaking in well known poetry was effective in adding to the depth of the story. 5/5

I enjoyed this as a whole, even though I found parts of the storyline problematic. I think someone who has dealt with sexual assault would struggle with the overall premise. I also was bothered by the mc's father only speaking through poetry. If it had been a quirk to often quote verse, it would have been endearing, but the fact that he absolutely didn't speak unless it was poetry was harder to buy and never really fully explained. Still, a pick.

OMG! This book is so good! Sara was raped at a party when she was 18; now 8-yr-old daughter Alana is proof as rapist Daniel awaits parole. But Sara coincidentally meets his twin in her bookstore and things go ballistic! So many awesome themes and feelings that I cried way too often!🥰
