Erich Maria Remarque's All Quiet on the Western Front
Erich Maria Remarque's All Quiet on the Western Front | Harold Bloom
1 post | 1 read
This 1929 novel served as Remarque's attempt to confront and ultimately rid himself of the graphic and haunting memories of his time serving in World War I. A novel with autobiographical overtones, All Quiet on the Western Front traces the evolution of one man's powerful antiwar sentiments. This title in the Bloom's Modern Critical Interpretations series features a fresh selection of full-length critical essays, in addition to a bibliography, a chronology of the author's life, and an introduction by esteemed scholar Harold Bloom.

The book doesn‘t actually have the AQotWF story - the book was entirely critical analysis essays! I flipped through, read some of some of the essays, noticed that Danielle Steele is listed in the index and started to google other interesting tangents until I discovered that EMR was married to Paulette Goddard! Anyway,… just requested the actual book from the library.

Anyone on untappd?

Ruthiella That happened to me once with Jane Eyre! I never even read the essays. I wonder if I ever still have it? 🤔 1y
