The Master Craftsman: A Novel | Kelli Stuart
4 posts | 3 read | 5 to read
In 1917, Alma Pihl, a master craftsman in the House of Faberg, was charged to protect one of the greatest secrets in Russian history--an unknown Faberg Egg that Peter Karl Faberg secretly created to honor his divided allegiance to both the people of Russia and the Imperial tsar's family. When Alma and her husband escaped Russia for their native Finland in 1921, she took the secret with her, guarding her past connection to the Romanov family. Three generations later, world-renowned treasure hunter Nick Laine is sick and fears the secret of the missing egg will die with him. With time running out, he entrusts the mission of retrieving the egg to his estranged daughter, Ava, who has little idea of the dangers she is about to face. As the stakes are raised, Ava is forced to declare her own allegiance--and the consequences are greater than she could have imagined. This modern-day treasure hunt from award-winning author Kelli Stuart transports you into the opulent and treacherous world of the Russian Revolution to unearth mysteries long buried.

This was a very fun read! Part history, part romance, with a little National Treasure thrown in for intrigue. Did Karl Faberge create an egg we don't know about? This is the question behind the story. It's about seeking the treasure but finding out the real treasure has always been right in front of you. This is an exciting and poignant read. Lots of excellent reading in this #fathersdaybookhaul. I happen to know the author of the tagged book personally. She's as wonderful as a person as she is an author. Can't wait to dive into the permaculture guide.

I‘m on a Russian-centric historical fiction kick lately. “The Master Craftsman” by Kelli Stuart was a great read! I loved the ending 🥹 Definitely a pick for historical fiction fans!! (And anyone who enjoys books with zero “racy” scenes are good 👍 I‘m excited to share this with my 90 (91 on 6/4!! 🥳) year old grandma 😁)
