Green has given us a beautifully written, twisty novel with quirky characters (The Whistler, Jaq, Ransome) that will haunt your dreams. Morgana is a bootstrapped grande dame who lives to manipulate her children and Savannah society. Stony, a homeless archeologist has discovered the “Treasure of the Kingdom” in an island haven for escaped slaves. Woven together, these plot lines yield a great mystery based on fact. Don‘t miss the notes at the end.

Savannah's rich and sordid history play a huge role in this mystery that entangles one of the city's well-regarded families. I felt like it lost a bit in the third act, but it's an engaging mystery flushed out by strong characters and enticing (true) historical tidbits.

Wow! This one was so good! While it‘s not a true story, it incorporates some history of the area that I had no idea existed. It‘s solid mystery/thriller fiction but the author has historical notes at the end explaining what inspired some events and pointing the reader to resources for additional reading. I will certainly be looking some of the books and investigative reporting he mentions there. So glad I picked this one up!

Murder mystery / thriller set in Savannah with convoluted Southern family relationships; great entertainment. But I have to be honest, nothing can top Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil for Southern noir.

I really liked this story. It is a great mystery that kept me at the edge of my seat right from the start. There are a lot of characters with a lot of connections to each other, but they are all so well developed and none of them seemed to get lost in the shuffle of the story. Jaq and Ransom are easily my favorites, with their strength and drive, although Morgana had some great, and in one instance truly touching, moments within the novel.

Happy Publication Week to this wonderful thriller!! Dripping with atmosphere, lively characters, and a genuinely thrilling plot, this is one of my #Top2022Reads for sure! I loved the setting (obviously I couldn‘t stop thinking about MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD & EVIL) and Morgana Musgrove is a real scene stealer! I liked the weaving of history in with the modern murder plot. Well-written & hard to put down, I can‘t wait to read more from Green!

Little Free Library Book Drop Day

Dropping off new copy of #kingdomsofsavannah by #georgedawesgreen

This mystery was set in Savannah Georgia and the city and it's history was really the star of this very atmospheric book. I enjoyed it, but found it a tad slow. There were a lot of characters, and their development suffered a little because of their numbers. Having said that, it is still a good read and felt it worthy of my time. I loved how much of the story was based on real events, which the author explains in notes at the end. 3.5/5 stars

I wasn't sure what to expect when I got this book. But it said it was a mystery, and I do enjoy mysteries, so I gave it a try. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It is well written and interesting. The book starts right off, jumping into the action. A young man is killed. Another man is in jail, claiming he was framed for the murder.
