A belated picture of my (ahem) modest book haul. These past few pandemic years, it has become a birthday ritual to walk to a half dozen Brooklyn bookstores, tagged below. My favorite was closed for the holidays, so I didn't get a chance to visit until today.

Billypar Very nice! I should be reading Kintu this month or next. And I miss NYC bookshops after moving to NJ - I hope to visit more on weekends once Covid cases start going down. 2y

I just learned about Uli Beutter Cohen, who has been wandering the subway system in New York for years, asking people about the books they‘re reading. This is her new book about her experiences, and I can‘t wait to check it out! #booksaboutbooks

EvieBee Thanks to your post, I was able to place a library hold. 2y

It was fantastic! Restored my hope in humanity from these short interviews of what people are reading on the subway. Fiction, non fiction, classics,& some great New York stories. It‘s great to have something on the nightstand that you can grab when you just have a couple of minutes to read.

vivastory Adding to my growing list of books to pick up over the next couple of weeks 📚📚 2y
Ruthiella I got this a couple weeks ago after hearing the author on the podcast So Many Damn Books. I only flipped through it a bit before I placed it on my ever growing shelf of books about books. 😀 2y

Cohen created the Subway Book Review which I follow so when I stumbled into my local indie for more Christmas cards I picked this up.I must say one of the few joys of public transportation is straining my neck trying to see what other riders are reading. Saw some amazing reads in SF & riding the subways of New York!Cohen is bold enough to start the conversation with riders & what they read!

squirrelbrain Oh, this looks fab! Stacked. 2y
