This was light & funny, with the author adding her opinions into the mix and warning me not to make a strange concoction of tree roots and toadstools to prevent pregnancy, but I can't say these sex lives are a secret. There was insight into contraception, gender roles, adultery, sex acts, and the role religion played in said sex lives, but by the sound of it, there were a lot of court records cited, thus making me think it was all rather common ⬇️

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick knowledge what was happening back then. The church was quite fond of a 10-40 day penance that was valid only some days. You could cover your body in honey, roll around in wheat and bake bread from the grains that stuck to you. Something about the ingredients or task could kill your husband and you'd get 40 days penance, but don't you dare lay with another woman.
Fun fact: the corset as we know it today was NOT around during medieval times, but ⬇️

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick is often shown in movies a wardrobe staple.
Dumb fact: The courts believed that pregnancy only happened between two willing partners so good luck proving rape if you had a bun in the oven.
I'll leave the dirty bits for you to uncover. A quick listen if this sort of thing intrigues you as it does me.
