pickThis was so interesting! I really loved the different POVs and the sharp change in the third act. I loved the look at privilege and how there are many layers of privilege.
This is also an interesting look at belonging. How we are "from" a place but might not "belong" to that place.
The writing is beautifully lyrical. This is short but very well done.
pickI loved how irreverent this book felt. It told the story of two characters (through their POVs), that entered a very complicated relationship with each other. Power dynamics, addiction, poverty, looking for your sense in the world are all portrayed here in a very unique format.

Looking for an audiobook to start yesterday, and I had this one waiting for me. I was immediately hooked on the story, but didn‘t feel like I wanted to continue it on audio.
I‘ve been trying to wrap up other books I‘m currently in the middle of on Kindle, but I could not stop thinking about this one…What‘s one more book, right? 🤣
Sometimes I really get uncertain about how I feel about a book when it is a not so compelling commentary. Premise is an American-Egyptian woman meets an Egyptian man after Arab Spring, and they go back and forth playing out stereotypes and making up narratives and stories for each other. And then the last third of the book is a commentary in and of itself about the writing process and memoirs which didn‘t do what I think it hoped to do.

I get a lot of reading done during the playoffs. I‘m counting on it this year because I‘m two books behind on my challenge. I like to watch games with the volume low so I don‘t get too distracted.
